The Livestock Evaluation Team visited Oklahoma City National Memorial on Friday, September 21. Many of these students weren't even born on April 19, 1995 when the bombing occurred but knowing that a Southside graduate was among the victims made the experience more than just a visit to the site of a tragic event in American history. The group was somber and reflective as they stood looking at the chair that commemorates Ronota Newberry Wodbridge who graduated from Southside in 1981 and went on to become a Civil Engineer.
The following day, the team competed in the Judging contest sponsor by Solution Genetics. Sixty eight students from Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma participated in the event. The Southside FFA Livestock Evaluation Team performed well taking four of the top ten individual placings and earning both fourth and third team places. Morgan Case was the highest Southside individual At third place. The students all commented on the quality of the animals and the difficulty of the classes judged. The learning experience will serve them well in the spring judging season.
