Parents and children of the HIPPY program, a homebased preschool program for parents of 3,
4, and 5 year olds were challenged to track their reading during the months of March and April.
Parents are encouraged to read 20 minutes to their children every day. Children who are read
to on a regular basis show more interest in books, have a higher vocabulary, and learn to read
more easily.

The HIPPY families read a combined total of 81,223 minutes in two months!

Each HIPPY Home Visitor awarded their top two readers with goodie baskets full of books.

Top readers were: Alexis Boss, Ransom Dunlap, Kia Fike, Emily Harrell, Madison Keen (not
pictured), Kayden Maya, Charles Sharp, and Joshua Vannattan.

All HIPPY participants were invited to celebrate the finale of the challenge with a pizza party
picnic at Riverside Park. Congratulations to all our HIPPY families on their reading success.
